Can you imagine what our forefathers would say about the state of immigration here in the United States?  Can you imagine any of them thinking it would be a good idea to separate families at the border and then put the kids in cages?  In fact, does it mean that Ben Sasse DOES think that it's a good idea?  If he doesn't think it's a good idea, why has he done nothing?  Arguments for stricter border control will site the influx of terrorists, gangs and other illegal behavior as reasons for their beliefs.  What these lawmakers suffer from is a really bad case of lost perspective.  Terrorists, gangs and other illegals are going to get into the country with or without a wall.  They will cut through with commercially available saws or climb over with ladders or dig underneath with shovels.  Meanwhile, truly deserving individuals get treated like criminals.

Do you have ancestors/family that came through Ellis Island?  Statistics say 4 out of 10 of us do.  So look around.  Where would we be if 4 out of every 10 of us weren't here.  What if in that 4, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison or Steve Jobs had family that weren't permitted to immigrate?   The immigration fix has many possible paths to success.  It's not the fix that worries me.  It's the mindset of this administration and people like Ben Sasse have when it comes to one of the very tenants our country was founded on.  We are a nation of immigrants.  We need REFORM and a path to citizenship for immigrants.  Our current elected officials have spent time and money and done nothing that would make our forefathers proud. I say...
